Featherhide - DreamWorks' Dragons: The Nine Realms

The introduction of Featherhide, a personal favorite dragon. Multiple adjustments made in-house to her invisibility ability to smooth transitions and establish look for future episodes. This look is achieved in a gizmo, but sometimes there's tweaking needed to get the exact desired effect.

For the screen shots I stitched together, the overlays were animated in-house by our Digital Animation team- this time I only had to concern myself with the rendered images interacting with said overlays- retime, animate, and adjust as needed. The pixilation was achieved using a gizmo I created, anticipating we'd have more similar shots.

I don't think I've used it since this episode in Season 1...and we're into Season 4. But it was good practice.

Adjustment to Featherhide's invisibility to have her fade in rather than pop into view to make her reveal more dramatic and fitting the vision of our art director, board artists, and EPs.

Final shot (compression is, once again unkind, please disregard artifacting SL corner).

You know the drill, compositing PIP and animating PIP. This time the overlays were animated for me, but the rendered images were not, so I had to retime, animate, and adjust as needed.
